Hi
I have a question concerning McCall’s pattern 4875 (skirt). If anyone out there has
sewn this skirt please let me know if you can figure out the front waistband
closures. Does the front waistband wrap around the waist and close at the
center back. Did you have problems with the side openings? They gap open
when sitting. For such a simple skirt pattern (2 hours) this has given me some
grief! Thanks!

there are 4 reviews on Patternreview.com, all 4 commented about the waist band, 3 said there were big gaps at the side seams, one closed up the gap on one side and put a zipper on the other side. they said it hooks in the back (the front waist band) and then the back comes around to tie in the front.
Thanks for your input. I thought I was going crazy!

My aunt had that skirt in the early 70's. It was a full circle with a oceanic scene painted all the way around. Her's had a triangle gusset sewn to the front side seam that almost met at the back. Her front waistband had numerous rows of hook eyes, kind of a one size fits all. If your going to sew in a gusset, why stop there? Draft a basic inseam pocket and add a triangular extension to the pocket back and sew it right into the skirt front and waistband. Takes care of the gap issue and gives someplace to stash fun money.
Thanks for your input. In fact I did sew an extension to the front opening.
The skirt looks 100% better.
