   Missing pages

   Hi Mimi,

   It's not just your DVD. There are a few items that are intentionally blanked out in the DVD. Some are isolated photos or illustrations, and in this case an entire article. Producing the Archive DVD required a huge effort on the part of the editorial and legal folks at Threads. Before an issue is published, all of our contributors (authors, illustrators, photographers) sign a contract giving us the rights to use their material. When Threads began over 25 years ago, DVDs didn't exist, nor did the Web, so our contracts didn't include reference to either. In order to produce the DVD, we had to obtain additional rights to upgrade the early contracts. It was a massive undertaking as you might imagine. 

         Unfortunately, there were a few early contributors that we were either unable to locate or who were unwilling to give us the necessary additional rights, hence the missing article in issue #2. We could have eliminated the old issues entirely from the DVD to solve the problem, but since we did obtain the additonal rights for the majority of early articles, we felt our readers would prefer to have the early issues on the DVD, albeit with a few block-outs, rather than not to have them at all.  There are thousands of complete articles on the DVD--hopefully enough to keep everyone happily reading and learning!    Threads Archive DVD

   Does anyone know why the DVD is not for sale on the Threads website any longer?  I hope I can still get one!!!
