Hi– I am looking for a pattern that will helpme to reproduce a wonderful pair of pants I bought many years ago in Brazil. It had a deep yoke at the front, into which the pant legs were gathered and a 3-button closure and was incredibly comfortable as well as flattering for my shape. Has anyone seen such a thing? Web searches for yoke + pants just gets me pants with yokes at the back.

Any chance the pants are still avaialble? Perhaps if so, you could use them to make a pattern. I have a pair of RTW jeens with a similar "yoke" & realize these will have to be my "pattern" at some point.

Long gone
No, I bought them in 1985 and they're long gone--and were from Brazil. I haven't been able to find anything like them that I can use as a model, and don't have the skill to invent the pattern myself.
Drat! and Dang-it-all!
Perhaps you could improvise, with "a little help" from a similar pattern? I found this pattern envelope(!) in my file, but can't locate the pieces right now... Butterick Fast & Easy no. 6414, copyright 1988.
This illo is of a copy that's already been sold, in New Zealand(!), but shows what I would start with:

Here's the whole Google result that got me there...

It is for a dress, but it *seems* to have the sort of yoke you're looking for... the basic shape of the bottom of the bodice, and the way the skirt is formed and attached, might be 'grafted' onto a basic pants pattern that does what you like through the hips and rise...sort of a Franken-pattern, but "whatever works", right?
Ahah! The pattern description calls it a "dropped waist" - that may be a more productive search tem, too!
Good hunting and Bright Blessings to you!

Another thing you might try is searching in the patterns section of Ebay. I have found countless patterns over the years that I used to have in my collection - all the way back to my mother's collection from the 60's - and have been able to replace them from Ebay. Do a search for "80's", maybe a search for "pants" or maybe by designer name. Your sketch looks something like the earlier work of Donna Karan for Vogue or a separates pattern I remember from the McCall's NY-NY collection in the 80's. You never know what you might find there.
Also, if you find a skirt pattern with a similar yolk design (and this may be more likely), you can cut the yoke pieces as they are and then fairly easily superimpose the lower skirt pieces over an existing pant pattern to create a new lower pant piece - front and back if applicable. You would want to use pattern paper for these new pieces so as to keep the originals in tact and tweek it where necessary by making a muslin. One other thing to consider (of course you may very well have thought of this already) is to make your muslin out of a fabric that is similar in weight and hand to the fabric you would want to use for the actual pant. I have found that muslins are much more useful when the fabric is not necessarily "muslin" but closer to the fabric I'll use for the finished garment.
Hope this helps a bit and good luck!
