This 1955 dress was easy to sew and is easy to wear.
Part of my enjoyment is knowing that I created a garment from a pattern bought by my neighbor many years earlier. At her estate sale there must have been a couple thousand patterns from the 1940s to ’70s! I was sorry never to have known she sewed.
One of these days I’ll try the longer-sleeved dress and the surplice-front blouse, which is not fully illustrated in the pattern.
This dress was easy to sew and is so easy to wear. What a classic.
The fabric is a rose-printed polyester with exceptional weight and drape. It's practically wrinkle-proof, making it wonderful for travel.
Vogue pattern 3629, published 1955: "Fitted princess dress flares below the waist-line. Front buttons to hem-line or hip-line below the collarless V neck-line. Three quarter push up and short sleeves. Fitted blouse has surplice front below the shaped collar."

I really like this dress. What a great pattern. I wonder what fabric the woman who you bought it from originally made it out of? It really looks great. It makes me want to make a vintage dress. I am going to keep my eyes open for prospects. Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful dress. It's such a classic style, it doesn't necessarily look "vintage", just lovely.
A really lovely dress, great style from the past. I like this so much I will have to get a similar or the same pattern.
