This is my recreation of “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” famous woodblock print by Hiroshige. Using Zwade (a fusible synthetic suede) made the fine, white foam detail on the wave easier, as it eliminated shifting before the shapes could be edgestitched. Simple zigzag stitches shade the ocean, french knots form the heads of the people in the boats, and pearl beads became the water spray. I will show this garment at the Fresno Fiberarts Guild 2012 fashion show.
