I got my ruffler ruffling…… ha ha……..used it for the skirt of the dress and the ruffle on the capris……….sure makes quick work of it!! I think I need to quit the summer stuff……..she may not be able to wear it next year and no other little girls in the family so I need to use restraint! ha I can start working on some fall things for her now and her cousin Elle. They need to have a new fall wardrobe, dontcha think??

Sewing for little girls IS fun, isn't it? My grandgirls are entering their teens....enough said. Coming from a family where I was the only girl, and I had two sons, these little gems have given me a chance to use my sewing skills. So have fun, they grow very quickly.
I had three boys before my girl and my step children were all grown when we became family.........and now, too, most of the grandgirls are teens and above so I have just two little ladies left that like my efforts! Elle is nearly 4 and Taylor is 2.......I have a few years left to make cute and frilly things for them. Altho....Taylor really isn't into 'frilly' and I'm not sure Elle is either. A few dresses and capris with ruffles will work tho! I guess if all else fails I can sew for a neighbor girl......she's 3 going on 30 and will only wear dresses because "I'm a princess and princesses ONLY wear dresses"!!.........Isn't that a hoot?? Mom gets a bit frustrated at times but she's a good little girl so they humor the dress thing!

They do grow up in a blink of an eye as you said. My dgd is starting high school this year and not so impressed with sewing or receiving "custom" clothing anymore or the girly ruffles and such that she always loved for years. I miss making those frilly things but am sure it will come full cycle and one day I'll have someone new to make them for.

Oh the little "monkey" will look so darling in her pretty little outfits! Did you do the ruffles on the sewing machine or the serger? I love doing them on the serger myself. Yours turned out perfectly! Hey, maybe you should make matching ruffles for her little socks too! he he, just stirring up mischief here....
Thanks, Mary. I made the ruffles with my new ruffler. I don't have a ruffle foot for any of my sergers but I got one for my machine. Works really slick. I used it for the capris and the skirt. Makes things nice and even......and so quickly! This was my first project with it and I think it turned out fine.
Yes, they grow so fast. Most of our grands are in middle school, high school or college.......just the two little girls 2 & 4 that I still appreciate the 'custom' stuff! Moms appreciate them........good quality and they don't have to buy! ha ha I have such a huge stash of fabric that I'm determined to sew as much as I can for the next few years. Elle at 4 will start wanting things she sees on TV soon or things that the other girls have at Pre-K or Kindergarten! It doesn't take long these days. I'm not so much into lacy frills for the little girls but just cute things with an embellishment or some cute ruffles or trim. Still practical and they look like cute little girls..........not miniature teens! O.K........off the soapbox! ha ha

When my little neighbor girl was in preschool, her mother who doesn't sew, made her one of those fleece quilts that you cut and tie together. It had Spider Man on one side and Dora the Explorer on the other, no ruffles for that one yet but I had fun making her a big name tag for that.
My goodness; these are darling ...just darling!! My youngest granddaughter is 6 going on 16, and still loves the "girlie" things I make for her. My oldest granddaughter is 16, and she still loves the things I make for her ...but then, she comes from parents who are truly my "Little House on the Prairie" kids; very old fashioned, indeed.
The boys would all rather have $$$ to buy books to read, but I do make shirts for them using fabric representing their current, favorite hobbies, i.e. fly fishing, etc. Still, sewing little ruffled dresses are my favorite. Now then, I have had a ruffler for years, but have not used it. CK ...you have inspired me to "get with it" and use it. Thanks for your inspiration, and for sharing such great results. Good job!!

Thanks for your kind words. Your "Little House on the Prairie" kids are a breath of fresh air in this crazy world. We need more of those folks. Too many of today's youth think they need to 'have it all' and right now! They miss out on the years of hard work and saving and then when you can get something that you've drooled over it is such sweet satisfaction. Been there, done that and it probably made me a stronger (maybe better, I hope) person, too.
Get that ruffler out and get rufflin'!!!!!!! ha ha

You are so right; they are a breath of fresh air what with so many of the current values ...encouraging little girls to grow up too quickly. And yes ...I will get that ruffler out soon. But first, my reunion garments: I finally decided what to sew - for sure - so I'm off and running. I'm planning to use a Park Bench pattern for the first outfit, and Kayla Kennington for the second one. One will be with a skirt (the first one) and the other with soft pants. That should be enough, but if I have time, I'll go ahead and make up the soft green linen dress.

Those outfits are SO cute - love the green fabric in the dress & the pink trim. The ruffled shorts are really feminine. Your embroidery is so professional, too. Good job! Now you can keep on ruffling on the fall outfits. The ruffler does a nice, even job, eh?
