Breaking thread

Latenightsewing | Posted in New to Sewing on

Hi

I have a new Pfaff ambition 630.
I make weighted blankets.

So I’m sewing.lots of straight lines and the stitches go through two layers of fleece and two layers of Calico.

My thread keeps breaking band it’s driving me nuts.

I’m using the threads provided by the sewing machine company. Frister and rossmann.

I think it may be the needle. What needle should I be using?

You may need a heavier weight needle, like a denim needle? And/or you need stronger thread. If you have Insider access, you should check out this article from the archive about choosing thread. https://archives.threadsmagazine.com/threads/aug-sep-2004-114/flipbook/92/

Here are a few articles and a video that might help you, too!
