The latest issue of Threads has an article on making button bracelets. I remember (many years ago) seeing similar bracelets made by crocheting the elastic cord and attaching the buttons as the crocheting is done. Anybody out there know how this is done, or have any suggestions?

Hi Nancy,
I know from knitting/crocheting garments with beads that you need to string all the beads onto the yarn first before you begin knitting. I imagine that the technique for crocheted button bracelets would be the same.
String all the buttons you would possibly ever want onto your thread then crochet a stitch, catching the button(s) in the stitch, crochet another stitch catching the button, etc.

*I remember that my grandmother did this about 30 years ago: she used a shiny gold elastic cord to crochet, and she put on brass buttons on it. It was cooler than I knew at the time!
