changing a blouse pattern to a vest patt

mem1 | Posted in General Discussion on

hello all, I am wondering where i would add in ease to a blouse pattern(without sleeves) to make it into a vest pattern . I have a knit fabric which is a sort of embossed fleecy on one side and a a flat knit on the other. I would like to keep it simple as the fabric is patterned and needs to not have too many design lines in it.I was thinking of using a blouse pattern which has shaping in the side seams and has a center back seam .I was going to use a zipper in the front.I will wear it over a long sleeves T shirt with a funnle neck. The sleeves on the T shirt are fairly fitted and there isnt a drop shoulder.

You'd need to add a bit of ease to the width unless you want the

stretch of the fabric to make up for the ease expected, and you want ####fitted vest. Probably the easiest place to alter would be through the shoulder to the hemline, both front and back. Do you have a blouse

pattern you're thinking about already? Have you made it up? If so,

try it on over your proposed top and see what you think.

If you haven't gotten a pattern, look at KwikSew, Stretch and Sew

or Jalie (http://www.jalie.com) for a fleece vest pattern -- all seem

    to draft well.
