Hi everyone,
My DH (big movie fan) just screened Hitchcock’s “Foreign Correspondent” (1939) for the family. Laraine Day wears the most awesome coat!! This little picture doesn’t do it justice, but it’s all I could find on Google. Are there any movie fans who can dig up a picture and possibly a pattern for something similar (new or vintage)?
Thanks,
Elaine

There are a lot of vintage patterns in the commercial pattern books now, and your coat seems to have a velveteen (or velvet) collar which is all the rage now. Look into available patterns at http://www.sewingpatterns.com
I can't really see enough of the coat to actually suggest a pattern but this site has only vintage patterns, maybe you'll find something there:

Good luck and if you find something, will you let us know?

You might try looking up the coat via the Costumer. I checked your movie and the costumer is listed as I Magnin. Interesting since that was a fancy woman's store in California. The Art Director is listed as Alexander Golitzen.
Just a thought
