Drafting a larger size from an existing, outdated, Butterick pattern

luckycharms | Posted in Patterns on

I am wondering if there is a computer program available that would scan an existing patten piece and resize it to the next size? Specifically, I am thinking the PMB4…would it be able to do that? I have no pattern drafting skills so am hoping to create a size 12 from a size 10 pattern.

PMB4 will not upgrade a pattern for you.  I am not aware of any software, at least, for the home sewer that will do that.  However, you can do it by hand.  It takes a little time, but can be worth it if you really want the next size up and can't find the pattern.  Threads did an article a number of years ago with instructions on how to do it.  Do a search on the magazine index and you can probably find it.  I think it was 12-15 years ago.  I did it with a jacket pattern that was out of date pre-Internet and it worked just fine.
