Halter neckline bridal gown

twinscott | Posted in General Sewing Info on

Hi everyone,
I,m making a fishtail halter neck bridal gown for my daughter. She does,nt want to wear a bra or have stiff cups sewn in. She has tried on a dress with a type of sling attached inside to push the bust up for the required shape. Unfortnately I was,nt with her when she tried this dress on. Has anyone heard of or done this sort of thing to a halter neck dress? I would be extremely grateful for any advise. Many thanks

The next to last issue of Threads (# 124) had an article entitled "Build a Better Bust."  It shows how to make the sort of thing for which you are looking.

If you don't get your mailed copy early enough, check your local public libraries or the library at any college with a Design or Textile or Theater or Fashion department; they usually have subscription copies you can look at. Our large university research library has Threads in the TTX section, right between the Chemical Engineering and Food Science journals! You don't have to be a student or staff to walk into a university library and look at resources. University extension offices and public high schools often carry Threads, too.

Many thanks for that information. Being in the UK it never occurred to me that the library may hold a copy. I shall pop down there if I don't receive my copy within the next few days. The wedding is not till September so I have a bit of time on my hands.
