Help making a replica of the Michael Costello x Revolve Hillary Gown – EDITED
Hi All,
(This is an edited post with updated questions of which I have 2.)
I am trying to make the dress below (Michael Costello x Revolve Hillary Gown). I am using a CLO3d software to create and simulate the pattern. I will be using a Ponte Knit – 62% Rayon, 32% Nylon, 6% Spandex
1. FIT. The back skirt seam is misaligned. (photos attached). I am not sure if it is the simulation or my pattern. Any tips on how I can get this straight? The dress also seems to be tight around the armhole when the arms are lifted forward and vertical. Tips on how to fix this also? Any other fitting tips are greatly appreciated.
2. SKIRT DETAIL. I’ve made an attempt at patterning the front skirt drape detail (purple pattern). I’d like to know if I’m headed in the right direction with this.
Many thanks for the help.

Hi there,
Your plan sounds feasible. To achieve the desired effect with the Michael Costello x Revolve Hillary Gown, cutting the bodice pattern out of illusion mesh and overlaying the lace should work well. To create the opening in the middle, carefully cut the mesh following the edges of the lace. Ensure precision to maintain the structure, and you can secure it in place with meticulous stitching. It should stay in position if executed with attention to detail. Good luck with your project!
Thank you so much!
