Latest from a Hockey Grandma!!

Crazy K | Posted in Photo Gallery on

This is my latest…….DGS needed some extras duds to stretch his wardrobe.  He’s growing so fast DD hates to buy more jeans that he’ll outgrow so quickly.  The sweats make good play clothes for after school, etc.  Since he love hockey, plays hockey, sleeps and eats hockey I thought this would be apropro……..and I was right……..he grabbed the shirt and had it on before I could ask if he liked it!!  I guess he does!

I made the shirt and pants and the embroidery designs are from Emb. Library.

Thanks for looking…………please excuse the wrinkles……I managed to get rid of them before I delivered the goods!!

Great job!  I bet he will want to wear them 24/7!!!  Nice waistband too, what technique did you use on that?  Excellent emb. on sweatshirt fabric too.  Mary

Thanks, Mary!  I serged the elastic on, turn the waistband down and topstitched.  Since I was using sport elastic, I did the 3 rows.  Makes it look more like rtw and it keeps the elastic from folding over.  I have orders for another shirt.......just plain this time.......to go with another pair of sweats that I made him earlier.

I noticed it looks very professionally done.  What width sport elastic did you use?  When my son was little, I used to make him several outfits that mixed and matched as he always got dirtier than my girly girl did.

(It seemed we were always washing his hands and face and changing his clothes just before going out the door, and still took along extra outfits just in case.)  They are eight years apart and so very different to this day in every way.

Thanks for all the kind words.  The elastic is 1.5" sports elastic.  I buy it by the whole spool..........cheaper that way because I can  just cut off what I need........no wasted 3 or 4" pieces!!

        Kay,
It does look professional and tastefully done. Did he request another shirt? I would be so proud, to please a boy that age. I am with Mary. I love the waistband.

Thanks!  Yes, he did ask for another to match another pair of sweats I made earlier.  Just  plain this time though.  DGS is 6 and as you know, six year olds are a fairly sophisticated bunch these days!

Thanks to everyone for looking and for the nice comments.

Very good job, Kay, & a very nice outfit!  It looks professionally done, as others have told you.  You do great work!  The little guy will probably want several outfits now, in different colours.  Now you know what to make for him for Christmas.

Thanks, but I didn't make nothing, I got it at Target.  This was a get it and put it up sort of deal.  I'm going to make her a doll for her new room I decided today.  One for each of the girls for Christmas.
