need help fixing a snap that pulled out

susanna | Posted in General Sewing Info on

A snap pulled out completely from my jacket and I’m wondering if anyone has any repair hints on fixing this. Dagnabit. I was thinking also about taking out the rest of the snaps and stitching a band of fabric over those areas and then making buttonholes instead.

Any other ideas?

I have a snap setting tool, so I'm sure someone in your town would have one too. try a place that sews boat cushions , or an upholstery shop. It may not match, so you can remove them all with needle nose pliers and reg pliers. It takes time and some muscle, but I have done this many times. Just be careful not to rip the fabric. While holding snap with pliers, use needle nose to tweek and bend the center, till its loose enough to yank them apart. I get my hubby at the last to give it some muscle. If you live near Fort Myers ,Fl I'll give you a hand. Susan http://www.homedecsewing.com
