Conversational Threads

online sources???

Ocrafty1 | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I’ve been looking for a boucle fabric and am checking out some  online stores.  Have any of you used Fashion Fabric Club, or Fabric Mart?  Black or black and white boucle is really hard to find in the US… or is it just me?

Do you have any idea where I might find boucle similar to the black ones in a 2005 issue of Threads?

I've ordered quite a few things from Fabric Mart.  I really like their stuff and their prices and they always include samples of things that they call 'Box Stuffers'.  In fact, I have a sample of black and white boucle from there right now.  It is #12:

Unfortunately, they don't have pictures listed.  I really like the fabric although it doesn't seem that thick to me.  I have never worked with boucle so I have no idea if it's thinner or the same as most other boucle.  It's a black fabric with thin white stripes making squares throughout the fabric.  The squares are about 1/4 inch (actually it's more of a rectangle - the other side is about 3/8).

    Good luck!

Thanks for the info.  I've checked out a few sites that I found on an old post about online sources...duh!  I think I'm going to get a swatch or 2 and go from there.  Boucle is the fabric that Coco Chanel used for her famous jackets that lots of women wore in the '60's. The older issue of Threads had a beautiful jacket that I want to try to make. Its a little more updated and I think it would be very versitile...could wear dressy or with jeans.
