Skirt pattern with flat elastic

proegge | Posted in Patterns on

I am looking for a knit skirt pattern with a flat elastic waist-not in a casing.  I have purchased RTW skirts like this, but have yet to see a pattern for one.  Has anyone else seen one that maybe I’ve missed?

I’ve been avoiding trying to make my own patterns, but this is probably an easy one to start with if I can’t find a pattern.

Thanks!
Paula

Do you mean by "flat elastic" that a wide elastic is attached to the seam allowance at the waist? This is quite simple to do, measure the elastic to your waist, join the ends and apply it to the seam allowance at the waist, overlapping the elastic to the seamline and zigzag around, stretching the elastic to fit onto the skirt.

If you have a pattern for a knit skirt that is intended to be gathered onto a waistband, you can change just the waist edge to accommodate the elastic. Just extend the top edges depending on the width of the elastic you want to use. (double the width of the elastic)
