Sleeve changes

Kecia | Posted in Patterns on

I just purchased a new pattern from the Sewing Workshop called Mimosa Top and Pant.  I really like the way this looks, but I would like to have a little sleeve.  It could be a cap sleeve or something similar.  What can I do.  I do not have large upper arms, but I am 60 something and I just prefer the cover.  I would appreciate any suggestion.

If you can find another pattern in your stash with a similar armhole shaping that includes a sleeve you can use that sleeve, or use the sleeve cap to draft your own sleeve shape, or combine the cap with yet another sleeve from a different pattern.

You also might be satisfied with a wide bias band and some experimentation to shape and fit it, just enough to extend the armhole where you want the coverage.

If just a little bit of cap sleeve will do... just extend the shoulder slope a little and re-draw the front and back of the armscye to meet your new line.  You will need to experiment to find out how much sleeve you want to add this way. Remember you can cut some off if it is too much.
