Star Baby Bunting

About a year or so ago, I saw a fleece star shaped baby bunting in a catalogue. Can’t remember which one and haven’t seen it since. My sister is having a baby in December (perfect time of year for a bunting!), and I’d love to find this bunting. Any help you can give me? Liz

I know Lion Brand Yarns has a crochet version. You might find it on their website

*I think that Keepsake Quilting has the bunting pattern. I also think that you could probably intuit a pattern. Most newborns are around 20 inches in length. So the distance from tip to bottom should be close to 30 in. See if you can find a baby snowsuit in a thrift store and use those measurements to figure out the proportions that should give you a rough measurement for the head size and so each of the star segments. Polar fleece is very, very forgiving - you can either pink the seam allowances or bind them. Is this at all clear??? If not then email me.sarah

*I have this pattern, though it is no longer made anymore. It was by great Copy Patterns. And that catalog you saw it in bought the rights to the pattern. Great Copy redesigned it so it doesn't look so star shaped anymore. They have a website to order it from. Try http://www.greatcopy.com (Yes, it is also in Keepsake Quilting.) I am sure you could redraw the pattern to get the points back and make it look like a star again. I have made this pattern many times as a baby shower present. it is always a big hit. Make it from fleece and bind the edges with lycra-much easier than using quilting cottons as the pattern suggests. The instructions for lycra binding are in Adventures with Polar Fleece by Nancy Cornwell. I have made it with cream fleece and bound it with gold lycra-it is beautiful.

It would make for a nice momento.

*Hi Liz,I'm just getting ready to order this Great Copy pattern from http://www.nancysnotions.com on page 11 of her new catalog. And best of all, since I'm on their email list, I've got an e-coupon for 25% off. They have great sales. The star bunting is item #G1010 for $9 regular price. I think it must be the same one you're looking for. I'd love to find the accompanying poem that TC mentioned.
