still making

sewnsilly | Posted in Talk With Us on

MAKING is the operative word here.  Dec. 13 and am not nearly done. Already in the mail to Seattle and Casper, Wy are denim camp quilts with some embroidered and monogrammed blocks.  Still in progress are crocheted nativity sets for 2 daughters, crocheted ear warmers for 2 granddaughters, fleece blankets for 2 granddaughters and a crocheted pillow for another granddaughter.  Also a Texas Star quilt for one son that my Mom had pieced the center for years, (at least 30) ago now I have added the corners and borders and am hand-quilting it.  My Mom, at age 86, is still able to help a little and is thrilled to see it finished.  She has 4 more pieced for the rest of my children, so in the next couple of years we’ll finish those.

My home business is custom-monogramming and of course Christmas is the rush time, but am nearly caught up with that.  All this is complicated by a tooth extraction, dry socket and infection. YUK!  But my children are used to receiving a not-quite-finished gift every once in a while, and we’ll have a Merry Christmas whatever gets finished.

Happy Holidays to you all,

Deanna in AZ

How Great You Are!  Thrilled to see you are working with your Mom to complete work I know she would love to see completed.  Happy Holidays to both of you.

So sorry about the tooth thing.  I know how that can be.  Had a similar problem just before holiday times a few years ago.

Also, your list of remaining things to do reminded me of a girlfriend who often wrapped and presented an unfinished knitting project and announced to the recepient that she would take it back and finish it after the holiday or birthday. I also have a project I hope to get to finish today.  Would like to do three more but may have to give out IOU's for after Christmas.

Keep up the good work. I know everything will be appreciated.

I love your pseudonym - it SO expresses the way I'm feeling right now! Good luck, hope you finish, but it's more important to enjoy the holidays (as I'm saying to myself) stress-free.
