Teflon zipper foot?

educo | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

Is there one out there? I’m starting to work with leather and i need a foot that will enable me to get close. Can i buy a foot and get it covered with teflon?

Yes you can buy a foot and actually cover it yourself with special teflon that is sold with a sticky back to apply to sewing feet.  The other thing that you can do is to try a tear away stabilizer that will do the same thing.  Just a thought.

Terry, where can I get the teflon? Do you have any resources online?

I got a piece of the teflon from my dealer when I bought my machine but I believe that I have seen it there on the shelf along side the other parts.  I would check with your dealer and ask if they will order it for you if they don't carry it in stock.

A teflon foot was included with my machine, a Viking. Perhaps you can buy one that fits your machine. A rolling foot with wheels that roll along the fabric as it passes under is suggested sometimes too but I'm not sure which is better.

I have a regular teflon foot as well, because it came with my machine. I was looking for a regualr zipper foot that was coated or made in teflon.
