i am looking for online sources for 2.5″ wide black wool knit ribbing that forms the waistband of an Italian wool skirt. the waistband needs replacing, it has lost it’s elasticity (i had it hanging, instead of keeping the skirt folded).
i’m also looking for the thickest black cotton knit (ribbed on the outside and fleecy-soft on the wrong side) to make casual slax. thanks!

Hi. I saw that black wool ribbing in an ebay store that was located in Brooklyn NY. They had a lot of great woolens, unusual stuff at good prices. I just looked in my ebay account and unfortunately, I did not save the store name or I would pass it on to you now.But I'm sure you can find them in ebay stores that sell fabric. I remember distinctly that they were located in Brooklyn although others might sell it too.Good luck.PS I probably have it in my stash already. 8-]
i've never 'shopped' at an ebay store -- that's online, right? how do i start?
Could you harvest some wool knit ribbing from the bottom of a thrift store sweater? And the fleece ribbing from a black sweatshirt? You may even have some old tops that have excellent ribbing you could cut off and re-use. I find that ribbing harvested from rtw is nearly always cheaper and better than by-the-yard ribbing, which comes in very limited colors and widths.
