I do dressmaking and alterations, and I have a current project that has me stumped. The side zipper on a designer gown gets stuck partway up. It is possible to force it on the hanger, but next to impossible when it’s being worn. It is snugly fitted, but not too tight that this should happen. Any suggestions?

You could try rubbing the zipper with either beeswax or a bar of soap to lubricate it a bit. Check and see if the stitching comes too close to the teeth also, or maybe a piece of cloth or a thread is making it bind?? Good luck.
My guess is "new zipper needed here". Examine it closely... with luck,
it's just something that is making the slider hang up and can be removed. If not, try one of the zipper glide treatments. If that
doesn't help, it's time for a new zipper, imo.
Does the zipper get stuck in exactly the same place? If so and it happens to be a nylon tooth then the zipper is going to have to be replaced. If it happens in approximately the same place I think there is some stress going on with the zipper and not only will it need to be replaced but the area where it was sticking will have to have a bit of room added.
