This is my favorite project so far.

It's constructed of cotton print gown, Dupioni silk petticoat (underskirt), and various trims. Has 2 alternate "stomachers" or bodice fronts, made w/ snap closures. I used a pattern for the basic construction and made liberal alterations to the fit & design of the garment, so I'd have to say it's a hybrid pattern. I did research the construction of 18th Century fashion before attempting this. I was particularly intrigued by the notion of Quilted Petticoats, but apparent;y they were widely worn in centuries past :)

I freehand machine-quilted the leaf design on the petticoat - a sticky business w/ silk & muslin laters sandwiched over batting.

Pattern or design used: My own design - Dollhouse Designs liberal alteration of discontinued American Girl Pattern

Oh, thank you :) I was surprised when I started sewing for American Girl dolls how much it is like making smaller children's clothes - not at all like Barbie, but yes, tighter corners, etc. Thanks for your note :)
