Here’s a party dress I made in the 80s which will soon join Annie’s Trunk Show on my website (http://www.appleanniefabrics.com). For many years just prior to Christmas, my husband and I attended a black tie function called the Holly Hop. Each year at the 11th hour, I created a new look – which was always fun to do, but a bit nerve-wracking due to the time constraints. This dress is made from swimwear fabric, an unlikely choice for a formal affair but I think it works. The bodice is boned and lined, the piping is made from the selvage, the peplum hem has been left unfinished, and the skirt hem is fused with stitch witchery. The dress made a hit especially with my husband, although he often wondered why he never found any birds nesting in my hair.

This is beautiful! I don't seek swimwear fabric to sew ... maybe I should rethink that position. And the gloves! It looks so elegant. Thank you for sharing.
