A new trick!

The two musts

I can’t believe it. I sewed my first straight flawless hem today. I was so excited I started taking pictures!

I ordered a felling foot on Ebay for my machine. I’ve ordered may hem foots and I’m always missing the target or the fabric gets bunched up or out of tune. I came across a felling foot, which is made for making flat felled seams (check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s9-IpU-csw for proper use).

I started using a magnetic seam guide just a few days ago. The foot came a day after. I used them both today and I was able to create a perfect rolled hem.

The foot has an easy groove that makes manipulating the fabric very easy. Going through seams can be a bit tricky but thanks to the seam guide, I have one less thing to focus and fret on.

So, if you want to find a way to make a better and easier hem: felling foot and magnetic seam guide. A winning combination!

People who have computer-based sewing machines should be wary of putting anything with a MAGNET on or near their machines unless they like the idea of all their data being wiped out! Do make sure it is SAFE to do so, BEFORE putting anything like a "magnetic seam guide" on your computer-based machine!

That being said, this looks like a GREAT idea for those of us who have no such concerns! I will be looking into a flat-fell foot next time I am at the sewing store! Thanks for the tip!

Yes, that is true. Most of the inner computerized workings are well guarded and placed in the top right of the machine.
