This is a design I came up with for an experimental design class I was taking.  I was inspired by the Rococo period and the very over the top garments created during an era when they didn't have nearly the tools we do now.  I was also inspired to use a new product I was introduced to over the summer called Fantasy Film.  Very interesting stuff in that you can iron it, wash it, sew it, melt it.... you name it.  Fun stuff!

Maybe not enough was said about this "film' material. Maybe it is some magic thing that is so hard to work with why it is posted on threads... It all looks so simple to me that I really wonder....Where do you find this "film" so I can give it a try? Posted: 11:45 am on May 20th

I was stunned when I designed my Senior Collection last year and had barely gotten the first prototypes done when I went into a store and low and behold, Russell Athletics had MY SHIRT sitting there on the rack. Totally blew my mind. I knew I hadn't seen the design anywhere else...but they had to have come up with that at least a year prior to have it in the store at the time.

I love that you made this as bridal attire. I can see how it would be lovely on a bridesmaid. I was going more for cocktail, special occasion myself.

sewdiva53 writes: Hi Rita, I designed this same style in 2000 for a bridal party (The Maid of Honor), and the difference is that it was a gown made of Lavender Silk Charmeuse with an over-lay of Plum "Twinkle" Chiffon. The one cross strap was made of Beaded Lavender and Plum on organza flower trimming about 3/4" wide. Made on the bias with a split in the back hem.
It was beautiful...all I can say is good minds think alike ; )
I like the fabric you chose. Beautiful contrast of colores.
