A multilingual fabric wiki I have created to serve the DIY fashion and sewing community (http://fabricsinternational.wetpaint.com). So far (as of March 16, 2009), the site includes references to more than 150 fabrics with detailed descriptions of nearly 50, a discussion of fabric prints, and a list of online fabric stores. Details concerning sewing tips are included. The site includes a partial translation into French but is preparing translations in Spanish, German, Dutch, Russian, etc. We are looking for help with the translations.

What a great idea! I especially like the "Sewing challenges" part of the description of the fabrics, with tips on how to handle those challenges; also the "Cutting properties." Some online fabric vendors offer some care instructions, and some sewing and cutting techniques, but certainly not all. Even the brick-and-mortar stores often don't have that information. This site will be a boon for many of us who sew, and you will have the gratitude of many, many sewers, I'm sure. Thank you so much.
