Attaching a Lace Overskirt

BrookeStreet | Posted in General Discussion on

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone has some tips and/or tricks that would help me in attaching a lace overskirt to a knee length satin pencil skirt.  I have read the Amazing Lace article in the recent Threads Magazine but I am still have problem.

The lace doesn’t want to lay flat against the satin.  I have carefully marked and sewn the 4 darts in the skirt and they align with the darts on the satin skirt.

Would anyone have some tips or tricks on how to pin the lace to the skirt to get the correct alignment?

Thank you.

Have you actually tried it on or are you working with a dress form? Actually filling it out may give it a different appearance. Otherwise it sounds like you may have a little too much lace, or a fairly stiff lace. It's really hard to tell without seeing it.

Hi suesew.   Thanks for your help my skirt now has the overlay lace sewn in.  Looks very nice.
