Awning Style Valance

user-178279 | Posted in General Discussion on

I just spent a wonderful week at the beach. Now I want to make my sewing room remind me of a beach.

I have two small windows with just a valance on the top and I was wondering how I can make these kinda sort of look like awnings? Maybe even remind me of a beach unbrella! Just now my room is white – all white and I am even thinking of painting large stripes on the walls, maybe light blue. I may even put a window mural on one of the walls to look out over the ocean!

I would sure love some ideas – I spend so much time in this room and I want it to remind me of summer.

Thanks!

For a very simple awning try two simple curtain rods with different depths (I bought a set for hanging a valence over a curtain)  Mount the "short-legged" one at the top and make a casing for the "long-legged" one near the bottom of your awning and mount its hooks farther down the window frame.  Short on details, but maybe just enough of an idea to help you think out side the window box. LOL

I have some in my daughter's room.  I bought them years ago in the drapery dept. and they weren't very expensive at all. How deep did you want them?  I would do some checking to see what's already available.
