Does anyone know of a source for colored chalk for a hem marker? I’ve checked the Dritz site and they do have a blue chalk for their chalk wheel, but I don’t know if it is fine enough to use in the hem marker.

Have you tried the Chaco yellow markers? They are super, & you can buy chalk refills for them. They make nice, narrow lines. They can be had a http://www.agreatnotion.com . Good luck in your search.
Gloria,
Thank you for giving the name of A Great Notion. I have been trying to think of that name for ages. I have not been to the Sewing show here in Calgary for about 6 or more years. They used to be there all the tiem so not sure if they still attend. Now I have their website. That is great.

You're welcome! A Great Notion still attends all the sewing shows. Why don't you sign up for their newsletter, too, while you check out their website? They put out a catalogue each year, too. They used to send 2 a year, but have cut back. They are excellent to deal with & your order will arrive in only a few days (usually 3 business days).
GloriaSews,
I have signed up for the newsletter already. Thanks again. I am going to try and get to the Sewing show here in Calgary at the end of Sept. I checked and this company is going to be there. I used to get their book but not for a while now.
I became disabled 6 yrs ago and now need a walker or cane to get around. However, now I do have a motorized mobility scooter so might just think about taking it to this show this year. Time will tell.

Your scooter will be perfect for the sewing show, as it's always wheelchair accessible. Also, if you have a carrier or place to hang a tote, you won't be lugging heavy/bulky stuff all over if you buy anything. Also, you'll always have a place to sit if you take a class or watch a fashion show, like MacPhee Workshop. Try to go on the Friday, as it's way busier/crowded on the Saturday - & enjoy yourself! You'll be inspired & glad you went. I went to the one in Edmonton last year (before I moved) & met a Gatherings poster, much to my delight, & we still e-mail each other - so you never know who you'll meet, but it will be another kindred spirit.
Gloria,
Yes my scooter does have two baskets and also there is a tote on the side. However the bigger basket on the back will have to be left at home as I will need my cane holder (which goes on the back) so I can get off and have a close up look at some things.
Don't you just love the MacPhee fashion shows. I do. I actually chatted with her one time when at the show and was looking at the fabrics afterward. She was right there in the thick of th ings. She is just such an approachable person and so nice.

It sounds like you're all set for the sewing expo. It's something for you to look forward to, after not having gone for awhile, & you'll enjoy yourself (& probably come home poorer :).
You're right about Linda MacPhee - she's such an energetic, successful woman, always on the go, but she has a great sense of humour & is so down-to-earth.
Thaks for the suggestion. I will give it a try.
