When was the last time an independent consumers report been performed on sergers? I went to the library, and I have looked at the 1998/1999/2000 consumer reports/digests and found nothing on either sewing machines or sergers.

Jeff - The magazine SEW NEWS about twice a year (one for sewing machines, once for sergers) has a chart by brand and machine that lists each machine's features. They do not evaluate the quality of the machines and I have not seen prices in the list. Since different sewers (quilters, garment sewers, crafters, etc.) use their machines differently it might be hard to compare one machine to another.
