Can someone direct me to a book or article or give me advice on how to adjust pants patterns to a contoured waistband. 

I like the waistband treatments that I’ve been seeing at some major retailers where the top of the waistband hits right at the waist.  I’ve been looking through commercial patters and have found faced waistbands that sit at the waist or contoured waistbands that sit an inch or more below the waist but not contoured waistbands that sit right at the waist.
