denim fabric

andsewon | Posted in General Discussion on

I just bought some medium denim fabric and was wondering if anyone knows how to make it look more “used” looking? Thanks.

Denim is one of the fabrics that looks more worn the more you wash it. Best bet here is to wash(using soap) and dry it in the dryer between 5 and 10 times. Once the garment has been constructed, there are several methods of aging it. Putting in a couple of sneakers while washing helps. You can also sand it with sandpaper.I have also heard that some people will use dishwasher soap painted on to make wear marks. I have never attempted it myself. Always sample this before doing it to the fabric or garment!!! There have been past posts on this subject, you might try the search function. Good Luck... Cathy
