Good Morning. This is my first entry as I was looking for something in the Tweeds archives. My most handy thing is a Dressmaker Dummy Form which was featured in Threads Magazine about ten years ago.
Basically you have someone wrap you up in duct tape over a turtle neck. Then cut it up the back and stuff with polyester stuffing. Easy and fun. You are supposed to attach it to a stool but I had to go beyond that because I was too tall.
This “dummy” has been wonderful in making things three dimentional for hemming dresses, adusting clothes that are too big now (nice) etc. Alas, I remember that Threads also had a follow up article on making a dummy for pants but I couldn’t find it. If anyone has it would you email me at: [email protected]. Thanks. I think I will visit this board often. Sometimes I think I am the last person in the world who enjoys sewing etc.

Is this what you are after?
Hi Rekha,
I don't know if I went to the right place but I did find a table of contents of back issues and availability. I don't have the time to scroll right now but saved it and will look at it later. They did have an article on already made dressforms but I wanted the do it yourself items. Actually I think I might beable to figure it out without the article.
Just put on a tight pair of tights or bike pants and have a friend "good friend" tape me up!
Believe me these homemade jobs show every lump and bump. From my dressform I
realized that one shoulder is lower than the other! Thank you for the link.
Looks like a very nice website and I will be back again. Either lurking or making comments. Have a good day. Lucy
