Hello all I am thinking about buying a new sewing machine which has embroidery and can link up with a PC to download embroidery designs. I have a very good Janome 4800 at present and have wondered about the Janome embroidery only machine.. I am wondering if anyone has an opinion or some advice regarding this machine or any other alternatives. I live in Australia.

Hi from Australia too! I do not have one but a number of the 'girls' in my machine embroidery group have the Janome 300 and they think it is great. It IS embroidery only and would possibly make a good companion to your Janome 4800. BevA
Thanks so much for answering.Thats the machine I was thinking about. Now do you know if you can download anything you want from the internet or is it tricky with janome . I have heard that the code that janome write in is less used than the others and so the choice isnt so grat. Also i am interested in being able to draw things like polka dots or Daisies and being able to turn that into an embroidery design. I also want to be able to delete bits of online designs and rotate designs . Do you have any idea??
Yes, you can download from the internet but you will need a program to convert from the original format to the .JEF format (unless they already come in that format, of course). Embird does the job as does Buzztools and a free program (Ambassador, I think?). I use Embird to convert to my .PCS format all the time.
You will need a digitizing program to create designs (and probably to delete bits of designs). The Janome 300 will rotate designs on the machine, I believe - I will check this tomorrow when I go to my group.
Where are you? You wouldn't happen to be close the mid-north-coast NSW, would you? You could come visit us!!
no I am in Melbourne . Thanks for that I will probably go with the 300 . Illlet you know. Mem
