I’m headed to Birmingham, AL on Thursday and Wetumpka on Friday. Just wondered if anyone could suggest fabric stores there. I’m looking for garment fabrics rather than quilting. Thanks!

We have Hancock Fabrics in the Festival Shopping Center in 7001 Crestwood Blvd in East Birmingham, 9078 Parkway East in Birmingham, and we have a Hancock Fabric store across from the Galleria Mall 1721 Montgomery HWY in Hoover, AL, and we have one at 5209 HWY 280 in one of the shopping malls in Shelby County. We lost our Jo Ann store a couple of years ago. We have Hobby Lobby, Michael's and Wal-Mart, but that's about it as far as garment fabric stores. Glad to have a fellow seamstress visiting our city. Welcome.

Thanks for the info. I'm in Mississippi and thats all we have here too. I sure was hoping for more. But maybe they will have something different if I can get to them.
Thanks again.
I know. Isn't that pitiful? I guess there isn't much money in it or we would have something more. There is baby fabric at the Husqvarna dealer in Hoover, but that is about it. Sorry.Marcy
I'm back now and didn't get a chance to stop anywhere. My husband was doing book signings and I should have known that would take most of the time. While we were in Wetumpka I found out there is a place called the Cloth Barn in a town on Hwy 14 called Eclectic. The book store owner said the place is stuffed with all kinds of fabric and she had found some drapery fabric for her house. It was too late to go by the time I found out about it.
I have heard of Eclectic. What kind of book did your husband write? I'm sorry you didn't get to fabric shop. I am having fun shopping for it on line.

It's a collection of short stories called Rainbow's End. It's at Crosshaven Books in Birmingham and The Book Basket in Wetumpka. We had a really nice time meeting everyone at the stores.
I agree online will be the best way to go but sometimes I want the fabric right now!
