Hi another querie – Ive found a site that is advocating a new machine that felts threads into the surface of stable background fabric using 6 needles encased in a safety cover. It advocates it can be easily used in schools and I have no experience whatsoever of this kind of machine.
As I like to do a lot of free stitching with my pupils (aged from 11 to 18)this could give me and my pupils a new machine to use and possibly a different kind of look and finish to the work, compared with the normal free embroidery we do using Bernina machines.
However – will it be safe for kids to use? Obviously the seller is trying to sell and I don’t want to commit to something not easily useable. Does anybody know of these machines?
The site is joyssewingmachines.com if anyone likes to look and see what I am referring to and possibly those of you who use more industrial based machines than I have experience of (OOOH – not good English there!)would kindly give me some feedback.
Thanks Jan

Your students should be able to use a barbed felting needle which will probably cost under 5.00. The machine sounds like a bit of overkill. Google websites for weaving/felting.
Babylock sells a felting machine called the Embellisher that is on the Babylock website if you wish to see it. I believe Bernina also has a felting needle attachment for some of their machines.
Thanks for that - i can go back to my school supplier and ask about the felting attachment - might be cheaper than the new machine - but I'll also check the Babylock site - Jan
The Bernina Decorative Needle Punch Attachment and accessories is only for their machines with a CB hook and not for rotary hook machines such as the Artista 180, 185 or 200.
Thanks Kiley - all the machines at school have rotary hooks - so you've saved me some searching - thanks.
Actually I might see about an actual machine to do the job -such as the Babylock - cos it would free up the others for the class - 11 machines in a class of 24-25 is not a good scenario anyway - so an extra affordable machine would be an advantage for me!
Thanks again Jan
