Hi everyone! I am a newbie to your site. I would like to try some free motion machine embroidery. I have read that you need a hoop that will fit under your presser foot. I have 2 machines, a Brother Innovis and a Viking Lily. Where would I find the kind of hoop I need for free motion using either or both machines? I live in a rather “creative sewing deprived” community so have only Hancock Fabrics & Joann’s available locally for my sewing needs. Neither of them have anything in stock other than hoops that are too thick to fit under my presser foot. I look forward to your help and appreciate your assistance. ae50th: I beleive you can order Viking items from http://www.husqvarnaviking.com Our local Viking dealer is located inside our Joann's store, perhaps your Joann's would order it from them? I am located in Dover, Delaware.

Are you sure the hoops that are available will not fit under your foot. Try taking the foot off the machine, putting the hoop under at an angle and then reattaching the foot. Also, Vikings often have an extra lift on the presser foot handle for raising the foot just a little bit higher.
I actually do lots of free motion sewing without a hoop. It isn't always necessary.
