Good morning. I am looking for some advice on how to do a full bust alteration on a T-knit (t-shirt) dress pattern. I’m not sure what to do when I get to the waist portion of it, or if I should add length to the bottom of the dress. This will be my first time trying this type of alteration, so any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

It depends on how much extra you need. If you can get away with 1/2" extra front only, use rounded 1/4 " extensions on front side and add 1/2" by cutting across at the bust pt and sliding down 1/2" the extra at side is eased into the back so that the side seams are even. If you need more than this, you should add darts at bust point by cutting across front at bust pt and sliding down the required amt. The dart than fills the space with the pt about 1" back from bust point. But, don't make a dart bigger than 2" it won't lay right. This should bring the front armhole to hem the same size at back when the dart legs are folded up. It is not hard but you might want to buy Fit for Real People by Palmer and Alto. It really is great for a beginner or more experienced sewer and readily available.

Thank you for your advice. My post-baby body came with a DD cup size, so I may need to add the darts. I'll check out the Palmer book you suggested, too.
