GRANNY AFGHAN SQUARES guestion

barbaraparm | Posted in Knitting and Crochet on

I have a 50yr old granny square afghan that is my husbands grandmothers. Some of the stitching has come undone attaching the squares together. I would like to repair the afghan and clean it. Can I just slipstitch the squares back together using regular thread and can I launder it on delicate cycle in my washing machine? THE AFGHAN IS NOT WOOL!! any and all thoughts are greatly appreciated. thanks

I would not use sewing thread to slip stitch the squares back together.  I would use yarn and a yarn needle.  If it isn't wool, throwing it in the washing machine should be OK.  I wash wool in my machine, but I have a wool cycle.  Throw a Color Catcher in with it in case any of the yarn bleeds.
