Happy Mothers Day to All That

rodezzy | Posted in General Discussion on

I hope that this weekend brings extra special good feelings to all, a special hug and kiss to all who may have lost a child, have children in the war and/or other heart wrenching circumstances in this world.  Love to you from me to all mothers and all children all over the world.

What a lovely Mother's Day message, Rodezzy!  Yes, I'm back :).  After a very chaotic & exhausting April, we got moved & am still unpacking (but running out of space to put things).  I won't be able to get back to sewing for a couple of weeks, yet, for all the stuff in the way, but I got a new sewing cabinet for Mother's Day, so that will spur me on to get everything else done first, as the cabinet has to be assembled & I can't wait to see it.  This is the first time in many years that I spent Mother's Day with both boys (& an excellent dinner made by one of them), so it was wonderful.  Also, from the new apartment, I can see mountains in the distance - great for the soul!  Hope you had a wonderful day, as well.

Oh yes, I had a lovely lazy day.  My son and I decided that we would go out for dinner this weekend instead.  Very bad rainy, exceptionally windy and messy day here Sunday.

I'm so tickled to hear from you, I was getting concerned.  I asked for you in one of the other post.  Can't remember which one at the moment.  But I miss your presence here.  I'm so glad you are physically settled, it's just as much work putting things away once moved as it is getting it packed to move.

I'm glad your young men pampered you so, you needed it.  Your apt. view sounds awesome lovely, wish I could see some mountains.  I only see more city dwellings from my windows.  But, I still love the city life.

Just get comfortable for now, you can always sew.  I made a skirt Sunday from some new black denim with gold threads in it.  I have the waistline to finish.  Tonight I'm going over to one of my craft members house to have her help me adjust a dress pattern, she has a big bum just like me and does a lot more sewing than I do of clothes.  So she knows how to adjust patterns.  My hips are ten inches wider than my waist.  Always has been, that's one of the problems that put me out on sewing clothes for myself.  Others say that is the reason I should be sewing everything for myself.  O.K. I just don't like making clothes that much.  But, I realize that with the things I want to make now, I had better sew.  I'm a country western line dancer now.  giggle.

Missed you, glad to have you back.  Now where is that cherrypops?

Unless you direct your post (or e-mail) directly to me (or Cherrypops), we don't get the Taunton message on our e-mails - so, unless we're checking out these threads, we don't know what's happening.  I'm assuming Anna Maree is busy sewing clothes or costumes for her little guy.  Maybe we should send her a message - also, we haven't heard from Maggiecoops in ages, either, of JanF.  We're acquiring quite a circle of friend here, eh?

It's raining here today, so now I can't see the mountains.  It is a bit of culture shock, though, moving from a city of 1 million to a smaller one of only 60,000 - but we seem to have everything we need here, so no complaints.

The denim skirt will be nice.  As for the dress, don't we (most of us, anyway) have big bums?  Actually, in Marilyn Monroe's day, it was looked upon as 'perfect' measurements (glamour-wise, no sewing-wise) if your bust & hips were the same size, & your waist 10" smaller - so there you go - perfect!  Have a great day & good luck with your fitting.

Yes, you're so right.  We should send them messages, but when I do an "all" don't they get the message.  I do.

whatever, I will tomorrow or later today.  Got to go now.

I never get the message when it's addressed to 'all', only when it's to me.  Maybe our setups are different.  Yes, you've gone home already.  (My time is now 3 hours before yours, as we moved 1 time zone west when we moved).

My Mothers Day gift from my seven year old son was wonderful and he did not know he was giving me  a gift.  He had a difficult beginning and is ADHD and doing well but I have waited seven years for this!  He's seven and a half!  I showed him how to bring up embroidery designs that I have stored on my computer and how to stitch them out on the screen.  He did this for the entire afternoon while I worked on making tool bags (rock carving tools) for my son.  Now I can sew!!!!   I am 76. he is 7 1/2 and I took him at 6 months and adopted him four years ago.  Since I have stored over 3000 designs it could keep him busy for awhile.  Did I tell you he's a wonderful, fantastic little boy?

He is your gift that will keep on giving.  What a beautiful story.  He may be a great designer one day.  Who knows.  smile
