Help with magnifyer.

Tuva | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I have lost the central vision on my left eye and use a portable magnifying glass with a flexible neck to see the stitching area of my sewing machine. The suppliers of notions (Clotilde and Nancy´s Notions) sell a small magnifying glass to snap on to your sewing machine and it enlarges the stiching area. It looks very handy. Has anybody experience with this.

I have one that attaches with a sticky back to the machine. I could never get it to stay on. Maybe they have improved. I have had mine for quite a while or maybe the composition of the machine made it difficult. I have a Bernina. I understand your need...I have the same problem, but have not completely lost my sight in my left eye.

When I bought my Bernina, I ordered a 3 piece set of magnifying lenses,so I have 3 powers of magnification. It has made seeing the sewing area much easier but I have to have my husband thread the needle or put a piece of white paper behind the needle.

Do you think there might be a source of vision aides or magnifying gadgets on the internet?

I had one of those little ones that attached to the machine and it was hard to position it to stay where I wanted it. I have wondered about the small lamps that have a magnifying glass attached.

OK - I used to know how to reply to the original member posting the connundrum. Still trying to figure this out on this "new" platform. For what it might be worth to anyone, Mag-Eyes can be given consideration.

    I use them successfully.

ETA - Another head set I use follows. My choice depends on the tsk at hand. Variation with Opti Visor, is having to lift up the lens when the need arises. With Mag eyes this is unecessary. The latter offers a wider selection of additional lenses than does Mag Eyes. The head set is the 3rd item listed.
