How do I locate a suitable institution/foundation/fabric design department for donation?

jollyp | Posted in General Discussion on

My Mother  made a pair of satin lounging pajamas for her trousseau before her wedding in 1936.  The pajamas feature a great deal of intricate faggotting on the bottoms of the pants as well as the blouse yoke.  The workmanship is exemplary and worthy of inclusion (I think)  in the archives of a University’s fashion design department or other suitable organization.  Any help in determining an appropriate resource would be appreciated.  Thank you.

You don't mention where you are located, but in typing university+costume, I found there a multiple universities across the globe which have departments devoted to fashion garments.  You may want to try that and then select one close to your home so you can meet with them in person.  Drexel is one, FIT is another.  And there are much smaller institutions that pop up as well.
