How long does it take to become great at sewing.
I don't believe time is a factor.
I have been sewing for 50 years and continue to learn new techniques everyday. Some of them are methods I began using long ago and were "poo-pooh" by the so called experts at the time.
Watch as many videos as you can find - many are free on Youtube, or purchase those for sale at Threads.
Over the years there have been several TV sewing programs on PBS. Even the quilting shows have techniques that can be translated into garment sewing. CreateTV and HGTV may also be sources for inspiration.
Enjoy the craft and if you run into a problem, stop and walk away....the solution will come even if it is in the middle of the night!
