How to hide the seam of a lined flounce

user-7708062 | Posted in Techniques on

Hi Everyone,

I made a spiral flounce and lined it. Now I want to add it to the edge and hem of a wraparound skirt. Can someone tell me a hat is the best way to hide the raw edges of skirt, flounce and lining?

(Please note that I don’t have a serger. Pictures here is a practice skirt I made and an acquaintance serged the unlined flounce.)

Many thanks!

I vote for turning in the raw edges of the flounce and its lining, and encasing the raw edge of the skirt between them. Either topstitch the whole "sandwich" together, or fell stitch the turned edges down.
