How to make a zipper glide

Newbe | Posted in General Discussion on

This is actually not a sewing question.

What can be used to make a ready to wear trousers zipper glide easier?

Have just lost enough weight to get back in to the trousers, but the zipper is difficult to pull.

Thanks for any help.

Rub bar soap or bees wax on it. If it zips in front. Lie on your back while zipping. No kidding.

the zip in your jeans is most likely a metal one, in which case an ordinary lead pencil is the answer - just scibble it up and down a few times. hope this helps.

Do you suppose she's still struggling with that zipper after 2 days?  LOL

Try putting a small spot of WD 40 or spray silicone on a paper towel and running it up and down the zipper.  Congratulations on losing the weight!

Commercial product "Zipper Ease" works well, but has to be reapplied after cleaning.  Check the zipper for damaged pulls or coils.  You may have to bite the bullet and have the zipper replaced.

    Congrats on the weight loss!
