I’m Back ……….

sewslow67 | Posted in General Discussion on

To everyone who wished me a great time on my reunion, I give a huge thank you – and bless you for your good wishes.  It was fabulous in every way possible!  There were nearly 100 of us “kids” from a class of 135 students, and most who were not there had passed on.  Then, of course, everyone who was married brought their spouses, so we had quite a large group.

Like Junk Queen, we laughed about a lot of stuff that happened 50-years ago, and then I also found out a bunch of stuff that I hadn’t know at the time.  What a hoot!

Anyway, of all the really good things that has happened in my life, this reunion will be right at the top of the list.  Everyone had a great time and, without exception, felt that our class has always been particularly close.  No one gossips about anybody, we all keep confidences, and shares what is appropriate about what is happening with our classmates. It is truly wonderful group of people.

It was a heart-warming time as well as a blast.  What more could anyone ask?

So glad to hear that you had a wonderful time with old friends!  Glad to have you back, safe and sound too!  Mary

Thanks, Mary.  And I'm about to make another new post that you, of all people need to read (because I know you will just love the attached photo).  Now then, I bet you know what I'm going to post, huh?   ;-)  giggle

did you?  I can't wait to see!  I bet you got a new" baby" to love!  Zoey is sitting on my lap so we will soon see what you have posted.  I can't wait!

Especially if I cheat and peek ahead!  I knew that's what you were going to tell me.  I was afraid to say so until I made sure it was a new puppy!  I didn't want to risk hurting your feelers in case it wasn't.

I wish I'd gotten more photos of Zoey right away, she has already doubled her weight and grown so much.  She weighs 4.2 pounds now!  Such a big girl.  She dances, sits, lays down, and rolls over, but has figured out to start being insistant about getting a treat when she "obeys".  Now we are working on "stay", my weak spot.  My 9 yr. old lab will only stay a few seconds to this day.  They are smarter than me, that's for sure!  But so sweet too.

Isn't it grand?  Enjoy your little bundle of joy!  Mary

Thank you Cathy; it was a blast.  I regretted having to see it all end.

Glad to hear you had a great time!  Welcome back!  What comments did you get on your outfit?

Thank you Cathy and Gloria.  My special outfits stayed in the hotel the entire time.  Everyone wore jeans and cute shirts and, while there was time built in to go back to our hotels before the evening events, no one did.  Everyone just wanted to stay around and visit, and no one was concerned about changing their clothes and looking "pretty".   What a difference from when we were teenagers - when everyone cared more about their looks than what came out of their mouths.  giggle ..,

Anyway, it worked out just fine.  I felt good just having the option.  We ended up staying longer than intended too, and took all the back roads coming back to BC.  I never did make it to see the new doctor I wanted to interview in Bellingham, WA though, which is kind of a problem.  I really need someone closer than Portland, OR.

Too bad you weren't able to impress the group with the outfit you slaved over in the heat, but you're right about how our outfits were so important when we were young - now we can just be ourselves & enjoy each other's company.  I'm so glad you had such a good time.  I thought you must have stayed longer, as we didn't hear from you for awhile.  Now, you'll have to don your outfit, have hubby take a pic, & post for us all to see.  We all want to 'oh' & 'ah' over it.  Glad all went well - & now you have your new 'baby' to fuss over, too.

Too bad about the doctor in WA.  Do you not have one in Kamloops or Vancouver or anywhere in between?

Good Morning Gloria!  Answer to your question:  I'm an American, (and my husband is Canadian) and, because of having kidney disease (ESRD), I cannot be covered here in BC, so I have to go down to the states every month for my lab work and exams.  The cost of going here would be prohibitive, esp. since all is paid for my insurance in the US.  I only went to the ER when I fell because it was urgent, and that fall ended up costing me just under $3,000.  It included an ambulance, but still ... I was shocked.

If I were an official in the Canadian government, I wouldn't want me on the medical system here either, so it is OK; I completely understand.

When it slows down here I will ask DH to take a picture in my outfit.  Thanks for reminding me and yes, I'd love to share the results.  ;-)

Sewslow, your class sounds just like mine, and I suspect most 50-year reunions are the same. All the old chemistries, okay MOST of the chemistries, are gone, and we just love each other for who they are. None of us would leave to change clothes either. One of these days, we are going to have to exchange stories. I remember hearing several surprised, "They did WHAT?" comments as people told stories from the past.I am so glad you had a good time. It makes me smile just thinking about it.

I just knew you'd have a mah-velous time!!! Have you ever before had so many hugs and kisses and well wishes at one time in your entire life? Glad you are home and recuperating from the trip and late hours. You have been missed here on the forum.

Thank you JQ:  I remember some of your comments about your reunions, and I must say ...wow ...I sure did learn about some "stuff" that happened 50-years ago and nearly rolled on the floor laughing.   Here I thought that my "quiet little girl friend" who I played dolls with was a perfect little "lady".  Not so ...she says now.  Too many stories to tell ...and esp. out of "school".  Too funny ...!  Just too funny.

I'm glad you were able to enjoy your 50th!  What a blessing!

And, I'm happy you are recovering well from your fall.

Thanks so much and, yes ...a terrific time was had by all.  As you can well imagine, it was difficult to leave ...but the memories will remain forever.

yes when I went back for my 25, we agreed that much fun just ought to be illegal!
