I am looking into purchasing a Janome 644D serger for 600$ cdn. It is a bankruptcy sale through a dealer near where I live but you still get the lessons and hopefully the service and support for years to come:). I’ve read all the message boards and no one really seems to metion the Janome Sergers. Is there a reason for this? If any one has ANY comments please post or even email me – I am a first time buyer and would appreciate any honest thoughts. THANKS! Hope to hear from you!

I have the 5 thread Janome compulock model and like it a lot.
I haven't even learned all the stuff it can do yet. Yes, it's slightly intimidating, but I expect to use the cover stitch and the double chain stitch on some school clothes for my granddaughter soon. Just be sure you take all the classes.
I am very familiar with the 634D and it is wonderful!! (I haven't seen the 644D.) I wouldn't pass up that deal. Just make sure you get all your training before the place decides to shut down! LOL The book that comes with it is pretty good, so if you don't get all your classes, it is a good resource.
As for the Compulock, I am glad someone is having luck with it, I wouldn't give two cents for one. I worked for a company the year they came out and every one we took out of the box to test sew was a royal pain. skipping stitches, breaking needles and threads. Just really aggrevating.
