looking for buckram

sueb | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I am interested in making some handbags and I’m trying to locate a source for buckram.  My local fabric store sells it in 4 inch strips but I was interested in perhaps being able to purchase it by the yard.  Anybody out there buy or use this product?

Have you tried Google?  I'm a Google convert after getting so many addresses from Jean.     The other thing to try is look in Threads, maybe a year ago, for the article on purse making.  That should have a list of materials and sources.    rjf

Call around to neighboring fabric stores.  I have always bought it by the yard (usually at least 24" wide).  You might try finding a fabric store with a good home-dec department.

By the way, if you heat it up with an iron it becomes temporarily easier to work with.
